empty nest + racism

today i helped the last of my three igniters out of the ministry house. steph left today. she's heading to NZ before heading home - then hopefully she'll come back. i think i will have a bit of emtpy next syndrome over the next few days...
a few wedding things have been happening.
my dress is in.
i got my shoes (thanks mish).
we purchased my wedding band (as in my ring, not a group of musicians).
that's 3 things this week. not doing too bad.

anyway, back to wonderland. it was so awesome. I LOVE rides. my favourite was TOP GUN. on this one your legs dangle (just like the lethal weapon at movie world on the gold coast). but then there were so many others. the fly - forwards and backwards, the sky ride - where you are harnessed in standing up!!!, tomb raider - where you are harnessed in lying down!!!, and then all the regular ones too - the vortex, some mine ride, dragon fire, cyclone, death trap, blah blah blah. i LOVED it. there were so many rides to go on! i didn't even get on them all. though i did make it on top gun three times! ahh. great times.

there was one event however which got my mind racing about racism. how prevalent it still seems to be in our society. this event lead to a discussion on our 'natural tendancy' to be racist. and how unless we are conscious of it, most people tend to be more racist than not. i would like to think, no, actually, i do think, that it's not our natural tendancy at all. rather it is our sinful nature that leads us to be racist. when we are living for God, or living as God intended, race doesn't play a role. we are all one. i am not naive enough to suggest that all non-christians are racist and all christians aren't. far from it. but i do believe that racism is intrinsically involved in the fight between good and evil in this world.

i had to check my thoughts on this yesterday. and i will continue to check them.

where are you at?
